There is no AMP 2. The bar now is Core Web Vitals

People still ask what replaced AMP. Nothing that looks like AMP 2. Responsive layout was already here. Google moved the bonus from a format to three field metrics.

On a real Chrome visit you want roughly: LCP within 2.5 seconds, INP under 200 milliseconds, CLS under 0.1. Google uses the 75th percentile, mobile first. A green Lighthouse lab run helps you debug. It is not the ranking number.

What is not a bonus

AMP itself. Signed Exchanges for most sites. FAQ schema on a tool homepage. A perfect 100 in PageSpeed if the content is thin.

Structured data can change how a result looks (article date, product stars, breadcrumbs). It does not, by itself, push the URL up the list.

What I check first on a client page

Does it load on a phone without a zoom fight. Is it HTTPS. Is the main heading the thing the page is actually about. Are images sized so the layout does not jump. Is the JavaScript so heavy that a tap sits there doing nothing (that is INP).

Website Scorer still reports AMP as yes or no, because plenty of pages still ship it. I keep that signal honest: it is a fingerprint, not a recommendation to start a new AMP site in 2026.
